Every fall, Mock Trial at the University of Iowa hosts our annual invitational tournament, the Cornshucker Challenge.
We enjoy hosting a diverse field of ORCS-qualifying teams on our campus!

After round, head downtown or to the Iowa River Landing for food and drink. Then, spend the night at our Iowa House Hotel, located conveniently on campus!

Format
The Cornshucker Challenge is, well, a challenge!
The first round, a randomly-drawn team challenges an opponent of their choice. The challenged team then chooses which side of the case they want to compete as. This process continues until all teams are matched with opponents.
Winners of the Cornshucker Challenge receive our super awesome traveling corn cob trophy! 🌽

BROOKE WALTON
Our Spirit of AMTA award is named the Brooke Walton Civility Award in honor of the late Brooke Walton, one of our competitors.
Brooke was an honors student at the University of Iowa and an aspiring lawyer. She was a nationally-qualifying member of our mock trial program who embodied civility and respect.

tHREAT
Unique to the Cornshucker Challenge is our Double Threat award.
This award acknowledges the individual competitor with the highest ranks as both a witness and attorney.
